Domestic violence is violence between family members and intimate partners (for example a girlfriend and boyfriend or parent and child). It is a pattern of abusive behaviour where a person wants to dominate and control another person and often isolates and restricts the actions of another. It can include emotional, financial or physical abuse.

Domestic violence in relationships is quite common; however, it’s often not talked about due to fear and stigma. It can have a tremendous negative impact on confidence, work performance and safety.

This course presents a scenario that incorporates the cycle of domestic violence. The phases include building tension, violent incident, remorse and apologies; followed by a honeymoon period. These phases are common in relationships where domestic violence is present.
