Self-harm and suicidal thoughts often go hand in hand with loneliness and feelings of low self-worth. Self-harm involves deliberately hurting oneself and is a way of coping with emotional distress. Many issues can trigger self-harming and suicidal thoughts.
This course examines how various factors may be linked to self-harm and suicidal thoughts and emphasises the importance of social support and help-seeking to manage these feelings.
Workers learn about isolation and how that can lead to suicidal thoughts. They are taught about the signs and symptoms of self-harm. They are encouraged to seek help if they are experiencing suicidal thoughts and where they can get help in the work context.
