This course explains the three main risks relating to welding activities. It discusses the equipment-related risks, where there is the risk of electric shock from poorly maintained or damaged equipment and insufficient or worn PPE. Process-related risks, where there is a risk of burns, welding flashes, or fire and explosions when heating metals. Materials-related risks, where there is the risk of inhaling fumes, gases and vapours. The course includes methods to reduce your exposure to welding hazards including PPE and RPE, partitioning off the welding area and ensuring adequate ventilation.
